Why choose a twin-screw extruder for pet feed?
The main components of pet feed are generally composed of grain flour (such as wheat flour) and high content animal flour, fresh meat, and fat. In the dry process of pet feed processing, when the fresh meat content reaches 20% -30%, strong mixing and kneading are required during extrusion, which can only be achieved by twin-screw extruders. Due to the mutual rubbing and squeezing of the twin-screw, even in the case of high oil content in the raw materials, they will not stick together and affect the operation of the machine. Compared with single screw extruders, twin-screw extruders can add almost twice the amount of fat to pet feed, so the feed formula can contain more than 12% fat. This not only improves the quality of the formula, but also slows down the wear and resistance of the parts, reducing production costs that single screw feed puffing machines cannot achieve. In a single screw extruder, the fat content is limited because if the fat content is too high, it can cause severe fluctuations in the extruder, resulting in unstable product quality. Once the oil content in the feed is too high, it will cause the feed to stick and the machine to fail to operate.
